Letter to Malcolm is a deeply personal and poetic documentary by Shawn Antoine II, where he writes a letter to the legendary Malcolm X, asking for his insights on the state of Black America today. Using Malcolm X’s own words from past interviews, Antoine crafts a thought-provoking narrative that feels like an intimate conversation between the two. The film weaves together historical sites connected to Malcolm's life, such as the Pyramids of Egypt, the Masque of Muhammad Ali, the Malcolm Shabazz Mosque in Harlem, and the ballroom where Malcolm was tragically assassinated. Through this journey, Antoine not only explores Malcolm X’s powerful legacy but also reflects on the ongoing struggles for Black empowerment, identity, and justice in the modern world.
