Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) began in 1972 with the purpose of providing free Legal Services for the arts community. Over the last 50 years, they have accepted tens of thousands of applications for legal help from individual arts workers and arts organizations, matching them with qualified lawyers willing to represent and advise them on a pro bono basis. In addition to Legal Services, LCA offers robust educational programs on topics such as copyright, business contracts, non-profit formation, and tax for arts workers through their LawSmarts programming. LCA’s Video Law Library offers specialized Arts Law educational opportunities for attorneys who work with artists and arts organizations.
