Paul reminds us that until we are both rooted and grounded in love we cannot access the power God has deposited within each of us. In other words, there are some things that God has purposed you to do, build, become, stop and start that aren't happening because you've not tapped into the power that is released from simply knowing how love works. Most people have been taught and trained to understand love as a feeling. So, we express it in ways that are intended to provoke a lump in the throat or a tingling sensation. While that will get you through an expensive dinner, it won't help when the bills are due and you're down to your last dime. It won't get you through a crisis in your faith or your health. Real love isn't simply a feeling. According to God, real love is also a FORCE. For God so loved the world that he did something. For God so loved the world that he sacrificed something. For God so loved the world that he changed the face of history in the twinkling of an eye.
