Nirasu is a lyrical poetry video of departure my friend and I made, after hearing of the eventual closing down of an art space. Referencing a “Nirat”, a tradition Thai long lyrical poetry similar to an epic, often telling of tales of departure and journey and what the hero experiences on the way. The word also contains a double meaning, that of a departure, of leaving. Often nirats tells of a beautiful journey and the bonds which one forges with those that they love, often told through the perspective of a male protagonist. This Nirat tells three stories of our group of peers at the art university. With footage gathered from the eight years that the group has spent together by tying three stories into an epic journey. So this becomes a journey of our generation through time connecting the space, past and present.
