Cross-Linking presents a chemist on a colorful set demonstrating various experiments that would lead to the creation of a slimy substance, akin to a children’s science TV program. At the same time his voice projects in a smooth and reassuring manner an ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) message. All creating a calm and stress-free environment undercut with playful farting sounds when one experiment transitions to another. The conflicting audio outputs brings foreword a play of intentionality, of what one is supposed to hear and what one is not. Of conflicting emotions, the contrast of the sound and the presentation undercuts the seriousness of one another, both being a comedic relief.
