Homer Simpson once cried because five seconds was too long to wait for a microwave to cook his food. In these films, the expectation of convenience is brought to a comedic extreme. The montage advances in a march of cropped narratives, leaving viewers with a blur of afterimages. One shot follows quickly on the heels of another; the viewer interprets at a slight delay. Time thus condenses into an all-at-onceness: a liminal space that bridges and aligns the past, present and future.
