The mayor of Montreal, Michael Applebaum, has been arrested on fraud charges linked to real estate deals worth tens of thousands of euros.
It is the latest in a series of scandals involving Canadian local politics and comes months after his predecessor Gerald Tremblay quit over corruption accusations.
