As Pope Francis' visit to Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day festivities draws near, the city has beefed up its security.
On Friday (July 19) afternoon some of the Brazilian military's most elite troops assigned to World Youth Day ran complex manoeuvres to train for the most serious of possible threats.
World Youth Day is an international gathering sometimes dubbed "Catholic Woodstock" that takes place in a different city every two years and is one of the Church's ways to try and reach newer generations of followers.
This year the event will last from July 23 until July 28 in the world's largest Catholic country, Brazil. Over a million people are expected to attend.
In preparation for such a high-profile event, Brazil has mobilized all its security forces to help defend the city on land, sea, and in the air.
