Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions have hit parts of the US, prompting New York's governor to declare a state of emergency.
Some major highways were shut down overnight, schools were closed and thousands of flights were cancelled.
More than 14 inches of snow have been forecasted for Friday in some areas.
