Aftershock compounds earthquake damage to Greek island

Overturned boats, cracks in the pavement, and damaged homes --- all evidence of an earthquake that struck the Greek island of Cephalonia along with its powerful aftershock on Monday.

Despite the destruction, some residents are just thankful to be alive:

(SOUNDBITE) (Greek) UNIDENTIFIED LOCAL RESIDENT WHOSE HOUSE WAS DAMAGED, SAYING:

"God saved us, if we had been in the house, we would have been finished now. Everything has fallen over. All the houses are in pieces. The saints saved us and we were not in the house, if we had been, we would also be in pieces now."

There were no reports of any serious casualties from the aftershock, captured on surveillance video. But police said 10 people had gone to the hospital for slight injuries caused by falling debris or furniture.

Cephalonia was first hit on January 26 with a quake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale.
