Never more alas will I
hear again a babies cry.
The bird song on a summers day,
The laughter of a child at play.
The bustle of life all around,
Gone! now, I cannot hear a sound.
Though music that I still adore
will fill the concert hall no more.
My love of it will still be fed
I hear it still inside my head.
