It’s disheartening what our society
Has become
People are very disconnected on
A personal level,
Amongst its peers.
Seeking approval through
An age of technology.
When once it use to be
Face to face conversations.
They remain hidden in
The safety of their homes
Under blankets or sheets
In constant fear that
Their true emotions could
Potentially be showing through.
When words are more meaningful
When typed out on the keyboards
And presented on their computer screens
Teenagers no longer know
How to handle themselves
In social situations
With knowledge and grace.
Their only concerns are:
How many tattoos,
How many piercing,
How many friends
How many lovers
How tight can I wear my pants,
Until everyone takes notice
And accepts me!
