I talked to myself only yesterday,
we spoke of many things,
times of happiness and sorrow now gone forever,
he told me about the time he fell in love
and of the sadness that came and stole his dreams.
He told me once he met a girl so lovely and fair,
her parents disliked him and kept them apart,
and yet the strange part was that they'd never met him,
their decision was based on face value alone,
it really is ridiculous to find such people in this world,
they judge the case before the trial begins.
Strange that I talked to him only yesterday,
and now he is gone forever,
how sad the life cut off in mid-stream,
especially when the life belonged to one so kind,
yet no one gave him credit or recognised his nature,
they all thought humanity to be dead.
I talked to myself only yesterday,
we laughed about old times,
how can such a travesty of life be permitted,
he lay dead in the ashes of broken dreams,
but from the ashes it is said a Phoenix must rise,
and I know sometime, somewhere in the future,
a new self is already taking shape,
for such compassion will never be wholly killed,
there is always another to take his place,
and then another and again another,
so that before predators can cast hatred
and death on the land,
these brave new men of Phoenix will rise
to destroy them and all their kind.
