I remember that little grey mouse
And how he died that day.
With all his clan around him,
As they prayed him on his way.
I remember how they carried him,
Still twitching in the trap
And laid him gently in the box
And solemnly sealed the flap.
I remember how they scurried
Up and down, from floor to floor.
I watched in awe and wondered
What they were looking for.
I remember the squeal of triumph
When their search was done.
They'd found great granddad's helmet,
That he'd worn in world war one
I remember how they all took turns,
As they dug the hole outside.
On that rainy monday morning;
Then they buried him and cried.
I remember that day, each time i look out,
And see that tiny grave.
It saddens my heart and causes me
To regret the choices i've made.
I remember that little grey mouse
And how he died that day
He has a helmet for a headstone
And on it is his name
SIR CEDRIC ORAPTIC,
I REMEMBER
