He was held by the Taliban for nearly five years.

Now, Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl is getting the treatment he needs at this military medical facility in Texas.

Officials say he's in stable condition.

Officials also won't set a timetable for his full recovery.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) COLONEL BRADLEY J. KAMROWSKI-POPPEN, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, HUMAN FACTORS AT THE JOINT PERSONNEL RECOVERY AGENCY, SAYING:

"We don't know. There is no average time of reintegration. Each case is unique and different, I think this case is particularly unique for its length, over five years, and again we know that he did not have any contact with U.S. service members during his time of captivity, he did not have a chance to have fellowship overall so it will proceed at his pace."
