Furtive glances at other tables
No one there to recognise this love
This forbidden love affair of ours
These most valuable hours of us.
Why does the lord put people together
When your true love turns up later
Magnetically drawn together
Like a moth to the flame.
Meetings in strange car parks
Snatches of heaven in back seats of cars
Occasional hotel rooms for we two criminals
Criminals of marriage crime of marrying the wrong one.
Where does anything forbidden end
How will it conclude how will I cope
The answer is not comforting
If we don't end together it will be death by rope.
