Surprise Me!

Alfonso Maria Petrosino - I KNOW WHERE A WOMAN GOES WHEN SHE LEAVES ME

I know where a woman goes when she leaves me,
sure I do: she slumps down
and makes the Lord
a strange request:
to get our love
out of her head.

I know where a woman goes when she leaves me:
she goes to a caress
wrecker
to get out of her body
the memory of the paths
run through by my
hands.

I know where a woman goes when she leaves me:
she goes to another galaxy,
to the constellation
of Capricorn,
of Scorpio,
and neither the force of gravity, nor grace,
nor the promises of Saturn
will show her the way back.

I know where a woman goes when she leaves me:
she goes behind the stage
and gets an axe
to sever the power
lines and my neck, and the stalks
of the fake
roses.

You used to say you loved me,
but we say lots of things.
