Can anybody here me?
Is anybody there?
Is God alive and can He see?
This life I have to bear
I know I’ve practiced evil things
Yet some have done much worse
How come they’ll rise on angel wings?
Whilst I remain here cursed
Lord is it fair that I should fail?
That I in shame must die
Whilst others say You’ve paid their bail
And promised life on high
Can I not seek forgiveness too?
Can I not mend my ways?
Can I not join Your chosen few?
Who’ve found eternal grace?
Forgive this wretch of flesh and bone
Please here my humble prayer
I know these thoughts are not my own
So could it be You care?
Lord if it’s real and You are true
If Christ’s alive and well
I pray dear God You save me too
And lift my soul from hell
For me You’ve made it simple Lord
Through Christ You’ve set me free
I’m safe from death and judgement sword
For all eternity
My prayer is yet for others now
For sinners bound to die
That they to Christ their knees may bow
And join the blessed on high
