The Honey Bee Mat furnishing, was designed for families as a way of interacting with their habitat on the issue of air quality. The bioindicator who shares in this design is the honey bee, and the mode for conversation between the occupant and the home is via colour and temperature.
The mat collects data from the space, and translates this into a colour and temperature that the user can see and feel. The aim of the design is that this message prompts an action from the user, to attend to the health of the building, so that we [the occupants] become sensitive to the life of the building.
