The Bryophyte Hook furnishing, was designed for the elderly as a way of interacting with their habitat on the issue of air quality. The bioindicator who shares in this design is the bryophyte, and the mode for conversation between the occupant and the home is via speech.
The hook speaks to the occupant upon their entry, in a friendly manner, welcoming them home and telling them of any issues regarding the air quality of the house. The aim of the design is that this message prompts an action from the user, to attend to the health of the building, so that we [the occupants] become sensitive to the life of the building.
