Rouhani says time is running out for nuclear deal

At a wide ranging news conference on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly Iran's President Hassan Rouhani weighs in on fighting terrorism and Iran's nuclear program.

As the U.S. leads an air campaign targeting Islamic State militants, Rouhani raises questions about the effectiveness of the campaign.

(SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRAN'S PRESIDENT HASSAN ROUHANI, SAYING:

"With the aerial bombardments of a few geographical areas, terrorism will not be eradicated. Since 2002 many aerial bombardments in many different lands have been carried out under the label of fighting terrorism. But today we see the results of those aerial campaigns and it has only brought us face to face with the expansion of strengthened terrorism - having become a point of attraction for those ill-informed and ill-educated. So from the very beginning, let no one think of propaganda or slogans or empty actions. Let's dry up the roots of terrorism."
