Kat asked this question because she just got box braids done for the first time and they hurt like "H-E-double hockey sticks" and she doesn't want to take them down because they were expensive so I hope this video helps you!

1st Answer: So Not Normal!

I am never in pain when I do my braids and neither should you have pain when someone does your braids.
You could have pain if your braids were braided too tightly or your braids are too heavy!

2nd Answer: Water will do more bad than good!
Water expands your hair so even if it feels like it is alleviating the pain, you are increasing your chances of breakage because your hair will swell against your extensions.

3rd Answer: Take Them Down!
Of course you can leave them in if you want to, thats your choice.
If you don't take them down though, you are increasing your chances of developing Traction Alopecia or balding/ thinning spots on your head.
