Historically, the Andean indigenous peoples have developed a cosmovision, or worldview, based on the concept of good living or sumak kawsay as a result of a harmonious relationship between human beings and Mother Earth. This belief system is based on the view that Mother Earth gives to us, feeds, ensures the continuity of life and in return we have to take care of her, give back the life she has given us. In Costa Rica and Guatemala the local indigenous communities have their own outlook on good living as a concept linked to the defense of their land and way of life. teleSUR
