Dr John Celes - Sonnet: The Futility of Earthly Achievements

2014-10-29 2 Dailymotion

What is the use of labouring too hard,
When things you do are all impermanent?
What is the need to pamper, spoil your ward,
When you can’t guarantee his temperament?

The bounty crops you harvest can’t be stored
For future years for it deteriorates;
You bear more stress to earn while you get bored,
Life-style diseases more it generates!

Most things you do on earth appear futile;
We have to leave all things you slogged for here;
You better do the things divine than vile,
Before your end of earthly time is near!

If only you listen to God today,
Your life on earth will be in Heaven’s way!
