with the fuzzy edges of her floating
down to the smooth riverside boulders
with all those pebbles in her pockets
drifting without bizarre hesitation
not quite a zombie but a shivered
poem because Ouse water must have
been excruciatingly cold indeed
he promised to look away from her
pantaloons on top of the soon dark
current wafting like some cotton lava
