(This is a fictional poem but it could easily be true.)
He never wore his seatbelt even though it's a law here in Tennessee.
I begged him to wear his seatbelt but he never listened to me.
We went to a person's house on Christmas eve who was throwing a big bash.
On our way back we had a bad crash.
I was wearing my seatbelt and I was still alive.
But when I looked, I saw that my friend didn't survive.
At his funeral I cried a river of tears.
Life would be so much better if he was still here.
