Kosova do te jete një nder prioritet e NATO-s për vitin 2012. Kështu është shprehur kreu i Aleancës se Atlantikut te Veriut, Anders Fogh Rasmusen duke folur për te përditshmen kosovare "Koha Ditore". Rasmusen renditi krahas situatës ne Afganistan e luftës kundër terrorizmit edhe situatën ne veri te Kosovës. Sipas tij, NATO do te lere trupat paqeruajtëse ne veri derisa te zgjidhet situata atje dhe te rinise lëvizja e lire e qytetareve dhe e mallrave me Serbinë sipas marrëveshjeve te nënshkruara ne Bruksel.Duke bere një përmbledhje te misionit te KFOR ne vitin 2011 Rasmusen tha se trupat ndërkombëtare kane menaxhuar situatën ne terren ne pjesën veriore ne një mënyrë te matur, sipas rezolutës 1244 te Këshillit te Sigurimit te OKB-se. Ndërkohë, ne Kosovë e Serbi vazhdon debati sa i përket nevojës se mbajtjes ose jo te një referendumi nga qytetaret serbe ne veri te vendit.
