Punjab, in its endeavor to provide equitable access to good quality health care to all, has achieved yet another milestone. The infant mortality rate in Punjab has dropped to almost half. This translates to almost 29,772 lives saved in Punjab in just six years. This was made possible by Punjab Government's thrust on providing timely healthcare services to the women of Punjab. Punjab Government provides free transport to all pregnant women, delivery cases and newborn children. Punjab has also effectively implemented Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana and Mata Kaushalya Kalyan Schemes. Nanhi Chhaan has also played a vital role in empowering the women in collaboration with industry and state Government.
