European Forum Looks at Productivity, and Britain Rules on Fox’s Sky Bid
Members of bank’s Monetary Policy Committee have become increasingly concerned about the rise in inflation as the value of the British pound has depreciated against the dollar
and other currencies since Britain voted last year to leave the European Union.
Within the report, the central bank’s Financial Policy Committee will lay out its assessment of the risks
and weaknesses in the financial system and any measures needed to address them, including tightening capital requirements for banks.
In August, the central bank set its benchmark interest rate at 0.25 percent, a historic low, on concerns that “Brexit” could weigh on economic growth.
