Men in camouflage and balaclavas blocked the entrance to Ukraine’s NewsOne TV station in Kiev on December 3 to demand the station change its editorial policies, RFE reported.
The men called on the station’s owner, an opposition member of parliament, to apologize for remarks that they claimed were disrespectful of the Euromaidan protests, which pushed former President Viktor Yanukovych from power in February 2014.
The broadcaster said it was targeted because it covered a rally organized by Mikheil Saakashvili’s political party earlier that day, RFE said. On its website NewsOne TV said the blockade was a threat to the reputation of the Ukrainian state and freedom of speech.
