Only three out of dozens of people who signed up online took part in India's first farting contest in Surat. Event organiser Yatin Sangoi said he was trying to break the stigma of public farting with this 'out-of-the-box' competition. "In two days it went viral all over and we started getting calls. In a week all the media was covering it and giving this event hype and this was something new for them and it was new for us also," said Sangol. He and a partner even came up with equipment for the contest and attracted several prominent locals to join the jury. Eventually, all three participants failed to perform what was expected of them leaving the competition without a winner.
