Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Basavaraj Bommai took oath as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28 in the presence of state Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. Son of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, SR Bommai, Basavaraj was appointed Karnataka's CM by the BJP high command on July 27, a day after B S Yediyurappa tendered his resignation. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhawan in Bengaluru.
