Trump US election win 'huge setback' for global climate cooperation, says expert
Harjeet Singh, global engagement director for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, said Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election would be a major setback for both climate negotiations and global cooperation. Speaking at the UN COP29 climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, Singh warned that the absence of the US — “the biggest historical emitter and now the top fossil fuel producer” — would significantly affect the talks.
