St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome will be the final resting place of Pope Francis who passed away on April 21. Pope Francis will be the first Pope in over a century to buried outside of the Vatican. Pope Francis, himself chose the Basilica as his resting place, which is dedicated to Virgin Mary. The last Pope to be buried at the St. Mary Major Basilica was Clement IX in 1669.
