A drone video has revealed a haunting scene of twelve Class 60 diesel locomotives left to rust in White Moss Quarry, Alsager, Cheshire.

Originally owned by DB Cargo and built between 1989 and 1993, the trains were transported there last year by Land Recovery for potential restoration.

Now, they sit derelict, with broken windows and surrounded by overgrown vegetation.

Rail enthusiasts have shared their sorrow on social media, calling the sight “terribly sad” and hoping the locomotives might still be revived for a new purpose.
