Pahalgam (J&K), June 10, 2025(ANI): On the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said, "After the incident that occurred in Baisaran, the situation changed. Tourism halted suddenly and due to that, 10,000 horse owners of Pahalgam, the local hoteliers, shopkeepers, taxi drivers, auto drivers and sumo drivers are in terrible condition...Amarnath Yatra is about to commence. So, I called here all the workers working on the route of Amarnath Yatra, I told them that the locals of Pahalgam have to protect the Amarnath Yatra so that the Yatra takes place well. After that, people's trust will be reinstated and tourism will begin again. I also urged the Government and the Governor to reopen the parks in Pahalgam that they have closed so that local tourists of Kashmir who come here can visit these places and the horse owners, hoteliers and taxi drivers can have some income...I also urge those who look after the arrangements of Shrine Board - you said that one individual would bring just one horse, but every horse owner in Pahalgam has more than two horses. So, I urge you to make changes (to your decision) and permit horse owners to bring as many horses to this Yatra as they have. We want the Amarnath Yatris to come, they will be welcomed like Kashmiris have welcomed them for years....They will come here safely and return safely."
