Fighting for Justice in Duterte’s Drug War

2025-06-13 1 Dailymotion

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is in the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC), expected to face trial in connection with his bloody war on drugs.

His campaign while in office to clean up the Philippines from drug crime left thousands of mostly poor men, killed without trial.

Duterte and his drug war were popular among many in the Philippines – and still are. In May, while sitting in ICC custody, Duterte was elected mayor of his home city.

That support made it harder for victims’ families to fight for justice. Those families hope Duterte’s arrest means they will finally get that.

Louise Watt reports on how one woman found the strength to take on the drug war.
