India dictated proceedings after solid performances with both bat and ball on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test 2025. Shubman Gill was the highlight of the day as he struck a majestic double century, a 269-run knock that not sent a number of records tumbling but also made everyone sit up and take notice of the immense talent he possesses. Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja stitched a massive 203-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja and added 144 runs with Washington Sundar. Ravindra Jadeja, much like Yashasvi Jaiswal, missed out on what would have been a century. However, Shubman Gill held the batting together and got to 269 runs off 387 balls before he was dismissed by Josh Tongue in what was a soft dismissal. India, riding on that superb batting show, finished with 587 runs. For England, Shoaib Bashir was the best bowler as he scalped three wickets (3/167). Chris Woakes (2/81) and Josh Tongue (2/119), Brydon Carse (1/83), Ben Stokes (1/74) and Joe Root (1/20) were also amongst the wickets. It was then the time of the bowlers to shine next as Akash Deep (2/36) and Mohammed Siraj (1/21) ensured that three England lost three wickets.
