Chamoli (Uttarakhand). July 7, 2025: Heavy rainfall in Chamoli’s Siwai village triggered flooding after water breached an incomplete railway wall. Locals blame ongoing construction for blocking exit routes and putting homes at risk. A resident of Siwai Village, Geeta Devi, said, "Due to heavy rainfall from the morning, the water level suddenly rose, and due to the ongoing construction of the railway bridge, there is no way of exit. Due to the blocked exit, the water came this way and has damaged the houses and crop fields of the people... These houses can collapse at any time. There is a need for a wall, and only half of the wall is built, due to which villagers are facing problems..."
