बिहार की राजधानी पटना की सड़कें बुधवार को एक बड़े राजनीतिक संग्राम की गवाह बनीं। चुनावी रणनीतिकार प्रशांत किशोर की पार्टी 'जन सुराज' ने विधानसभा घेराव का ऐलान किया था, लेकिन प्रदर्शन शुरू होने से पहले ही पुलिस और कार्यकर्ताओं के बीच भारी झड़प हो गई। पटना के चितकोहरा गोलंबर के पास जैसे ही प्रशांत किशोर के नेतृत्व में हजारों की भीड़ आगे बढ़ी, पुलिस ने उन्हें रोक दिया, जिसके बाद स्थिति तनावपूर्ण हो गई और पुलिस को लाठीचार्ज करना पड़ा। इस लाठीचार्ज में जन सुराज के कई कार्यकर्ता घायल हो गए और पूरे इलाके में अफरातफरी का माहौल बन गया।
यह पूरा प्रदर्शन तीन मुख्य मांगों को लेकर आयोजित किया गया था। जन सुराज पार्टी सरकार से सवाल कर रही थी कि गरीब परिवारों को रोजगार के लिए घोषित दो लाख रुपये की सहायता अब तक क्यों नहीं मिली? दलित भूमिहीन परिवारों को तीन डिसमिल जमीन देने का वादा क्यों अधूरा है? और भूमि सर्वेक्षण में हो रहे भ्रष्टाचार पर सरकार कार्रवाई क्यों नहीं कर रही है? इन्हीं मुद्दों पर पार्टी ने एक करोड़ लोगों के हस्ताक्षर जुटाए थे, जिन्हें वे विधानसभा सत्र में पेश करना चाहते थे।
