देश की शीर्ष अदालत, सुप्रीम कोर्ट (Supreme Court) में हाल ही में एक हाई-प्रोफाइल तलाक (Divorce) का मामला पहुंचा, जिसने सबको हैरान कर दिया है। सिर्फ 18 महीने चली शादी के बदले में एक पत्नी ने अपने पति से गुजारा-भत्ता (Alimony) के रूप में 12 करोड़ रुपये और मुंबई में एक आलीशान फ्लैट की मांग कर डाली।
मामले की सुनवाई के दौरान CJI गवई ने जब महिला के बैकग्राउंड के बारे में जाना तो वो और भी हैरान हो गए। महिला एक आईटी प्रोफेशनल (IT Professional) है और एमबीए (MBA) की डिग्री भी रखती है। CJI ने महिला की मांग पर हैरानी जताते हुए कहा, 'आपकी शादी सिर्फ 18 महीने चली और आप हर महीने के लिए एक-एक करोड़ मांग रही हैं, ऊपर से एक BMW भी!' CJI यहीं नहीं रुके, उन्होंने महिला को आत्मनिर्भरता (Aatmanirbharta) का पाठ पढ़ाते हुए कहा कि आप इतनी पढ़ी-लिखी हैं, आपको बेंगलुरु या हैदराबाद जैसे शहर में आसानी से नौकरी मिल सकती है, आपको खुद कमाकर जीवन जीना चाहिए।
