Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: In a devastating accident near Tarangla close to Maseran in Sarkaghat sub-division, an HRTC bus skidded off the road and fell nearly 25 metres into a gorge today, leaving five dead and around 20 injured.
The bus was travelling from Sarkaghat to Durgapur when the mishap occurred. As per Mandi SP Sakshi Verma, four people — two men and two women — died on the spot. Later updates confirmed the fifth fatality.
Rescue teams, including local police and 108 ambulance services, reached the site swiftly and carried out evacuations on steep terrain. Three critically injured passengers were referred to AIIMS Bilaspur, while others are being treated at Sarkaghat Civil Hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Authorities are verifying the number of passengers; initial estimates suggest around 31 were on board.
SP Verma said, “Necessary legal action is being taken; figures are being confirmed.”
