Police linked to missing 'sabungeros' face raps as officer bares attempts to stall probe
National Police Commission (Napolcom) Vice Chairman Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan, along with lawyer Edman B. Pares, chief of the Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMIS), announces during a briefing on July 29, 2025 that the police agency will file administrative charges against police officers linked to the case of the missing “sabungeros” or cock fighters. During the briefing, Calinisan revealed that two groups attempted to approach him in an effort to derail the investigation and shield certain individuals from scrutiny. However, the commissioner swiftly rejected their overtures, emphasizing that the commission by the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remains committed to pursuing justice for the families of the missing sabungeros.
