Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has dismissed claims that the government had compromised halal standards set by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
Addressing the issue of halal certification for imported beef and related products from the United States, Tengku Zafrul said at a press conference on U.S. Tariffs on Friday (Aug 1) that Malaysia would only facilitate the process, while Jakim’s certification would remain fully syariah-compliant.
