Marcos won't back down despite China's continued provocations
Malacañang on Aug. 12, 2025 says that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not back down and continue to assert the country's rights in the West Philippine Sea amid two fresh incidents involving Chinese and Philippine vessels in the Scarborough Shoal. Speaking to reporters, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that the latest incidents in Scarborough Shoal reflected Marcos' leadership, as the Philippine Coast Guard still offered aid to personnel on the two Chinese ships that collided.
