Apple rejected Elon Musk’s accusations that its App Store favors OpenAI over rival AI apps, according to TechCrunch. Apple said it features thousands of apps through charts, algorithmic recommendations, and curated expert lists using objective criteria. Musk threatened to sue Apple, through xAI, alleging it was preventing AI companies other than OpenAI from reaching the top of the App Store. Apple partnered with OpenAI last year to integrate its models into Siri and iOS, but AI apps like Perplexity and DeepSeek have also topped charts.
