Marcos inspects flood control projects in Bulacan

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inspects the rehabilitation of the River Protection Structure along Barangay Bulusan and Flood Mitigation Structure along Barangay Frances both in Calumpit, Bulacan on Aug. 15, 2025. He was accompanied by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando. The visit followed the President’s press conference where he highlighted irregularities related to the government’s flood control programs, consisting of 9,855 projects completed from July 2022 to May 2025 and funded by a P545 billion budget. Bulacan reportedly has the most flood control projects, with 668 worth about P6.5 billion. This even though the province was not listed among flood-prone areas, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

The Rehabilitation of the River Protection Structure had a project cost of over P96.4 million, the PCO said. It was built by St. Timothy Construction Corporation, identified as one of the top three contractors out of the 15 that secured most of the flood-control projects nationwide, it added. The Flood Mitigation Structure was valued at P77.1 million and was constructed by Wawao Builders, identified as one of the top 15 contractors with a total of 58 flood-control projects, the PCO said.
