At least 60 dead, dozens missing in 'devastating' floods in Indian Kashmir town, official says
The Chief of India's Jammu and Kashmir federal territory, Omar Abdullah, on Aug. 15, 2025 says at least 60 bodies have been recovered after ‘devastating’ floods hit the region. Gushing mudslides and floodwaters inundated the village of Chasoti on Aug. 14, washing away pilgrims who had gathered for lunch before trekking up the hill for a popular religious site, in the second such disaster in the Himalayas in a little over a week.
