Greater Noida: A massive fire broke out in the market of Supertech Ecovillage 2 Society in Greater Noida West, gutting an ATM and several adjoining shops. The blaze was so intense that shopkeepers rushed to save their goods while attempting to douse the flames. Fire department teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control, but goods worth lakhs were reduced to ashes.
Locals allege that the shops were set up illegally inside the society premises. This incident has once again highlighted the growing issue of unauthorised shops in Greater Noida West, allegedly running with the collusion of builder managements and Apartment Owners Associations (AOAs).
Similar complaints were earlier raised in Ajnara Homes Society, where Greater Noida Authority had sealed multiple shops and ordered others to be removed. However, residents claim that after initial action, no strict follow-up was taken.
