Jaipur – On August 15, retired Army Captain Narsa Ram Jajda (64) was killed in a hit-and-run while cycling on Gandhi Path. CCTV footage showed an SUV, allegedly driven by Surbhi Maheswari, ramming into him and dragging his body nearly 10 feet before fleeing.
Police swiftly identified the vehicle, seized it, and cancelled Maheswari’s driving licence. She was arrested but released on bail soon after, sparking public anger.
Residents staged protests demanding stricter road safety measures, including speed breakers and regular patrolling in areas used by senior citizens for morning walks and cycling.
The case has ignited debate on reckless driving, VIP treatment, and the urgent need for stronger road safety enforcement in Jaipur.
